Q1 2018 Recap: Parolees in Joliet convicted of homicide

There were three offenders convicted of homicide released on parole in Joliet during the first quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Will County Gazette.

The data shows that three men were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for homicide was 41. The youngest parolee was a 39-year-old man sentenced in 1998, and the oldest was a 44-year-old man sentenced in 1996.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Christopher McCallum. He was convicted of homicide in 1998 when he was 19 years old. He is now 39.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
