JOLIET, IL – Will County State’s Attorney James W. Glasgow announced that Deiontae McMillian, 30, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was found guilty late Friday afternoon of First-Degree Murder following a jury trial before Judge Carmen Goodman. Sentencing and post-trial motions are scheduled for October 21, 2024.

New Lenox welcomes K9 Harlie: A boost for local law enforcement
JOLIET – State’s Attorney James Glasgow and New Lenox Police Chief Louis Alessandrini joined New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann at the New Lenox Police Department for the swearing-in ceremony of law enforcement K-9 Harlie, a female Labrador purchased by Glasgow using money forfeited from drug dealers and money launderers. Harlie is the 21st police canine Glasgow has provided to local law enforcement agencies in Will County. In the next few months, four more canines will be coming on board at the police departments in Mokena, Frankfort, and two in Plainfield.

Severado sentenced to 14 years for multiple Joliet felonies over three years
State’s Attorney Glasgow announced that Severado has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for multiple felonies committed in Joliet over a three-year period. In addition to an 11-year sentence for a 2021 offense, Severado received three-year sentences for each of the following: Attempt Criminal Sexual Assault (Class 2 Felony) for knocking a woman off a bicycle and attempting to drag her into his vehicle in 2022; Aggravated Battery (Class 3 Felony) for spitting on a woman at a gas station and threatening her in 2022; and Domestic Battery (Class 4 Felony) for hitting his...

Ballard guilty of unlawful possession with intent to deliver controlled substance
On October 30, 2015, the Drug Enforcement Administration executed a search warrant at a residence on Partridge Drive in Plainfield. Defendant Ballard was located inside the residence at the time. Investigators discovered a hidden room after removing a decoration off of a wall. Inside the hidden room, law enforcement found approximately 2 kilograms of heroin, valued at $200,000 in 2015. Additionally, a large safe containing approximately $138,000 in cash was also discovered.
