Will County Historic Preservation Commission met Feb. 7.
Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:
1. Call to Order
Vasko called the meeting to order at 7:03 P.M.
2. Roll Call – Establishment of a Quorum

A quorum was present.
3. Approval of Agenda
Panozzo moved that the agenda be adopted as presented. Seggebruch seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
4. Approval of December 6, 2017 Minutes
Panozzo moved that the minutes be approved as presented. McCollum seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
5. Public Comments
No Public Comments.
6. Chairman’s Report
Vasko discussed that the annual report sent to the Illinois State Historic Preservation Office by staff was impressive and detailed. As for the commissioners, we did well but could do better this year.
Cathy Boo will be resigning due to multiple missed meetings.
7. Staff’s Report
Farrell passed out Joliet-Lemont limestone books which were donated by the Joliet Preservation Commission at this meeting to all present commissioners. Farrell also passed out a current 2018 Commission roster.
Demolition by neglect was discussed. Within the County’s adopted codes and ordinances, there is a section related to property maintenance. The Commission is to review the code distributed by Farrell and be prepared to discuss if it is sufficient to address demolition by neglect issues. Currently code violations are driven by complaint only.
Crete and Will Rural Surveys are in the final draft before printing.
As for a Commissioner replacement for Kirsten Steeves who stepped down, Matt Campbell was recommended for the position and he will be sending in his recommendation to the county board.
Farrell distributed a report by the Bolingbrook Historic Preservation Commission detailing conservation work that occurred at Boardman Cemetery.

9. New Business
A vote was taken as to which commissioners among present would be the Vice Chair and the Secretary. Panozzo made the first motion and Nagel made the second motion that Dan Seggebruch remain as Vice-Chairperson. Galik made the first motion and Seggebruch made the second motion that Nagel remain the Secretary. All present were in favor; both motions passed.
2018 Goals and Objectives were amended to include updating the WCHPC logo.
McCollum made a motion to approve the 2018 Goals and Objectives as amended, Kiefner seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Panozzo asked if there is a form letter to send to prospective landmark owners. Staff will email out the templates.
10. Commissioner Discussion
Vasko found flowers from the funeral of Abraham Lincoln and will be displaying the item on February 17, 2018 at the Will County Historical Museum and Research Center in Lockport.

Kiefner moved that the meeting be adjourned. Nagel seconded the motion which passed unanimously at 7:44 P.M. The next meeting will be March 7, 2018.
