Lockport Township High School will host its Step-Up/STEM Night for incoming freshmen and their families on Thursday, November 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will take place at the Central Campus located at 1222 Jefferson Street in Lockport, Illinois.

The high school is also offering online registration for students entering ninth grade in the 2026-2027 academic year. Families are encouraged to complete registration by November 15 to help ensure a smooth transition and prepare for course selection scheduled for January 31, 2026.

Fairmont School District 89, which serves Will County and includes Fairmont School, has a diverse student body. According to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), the district's enrollment is approximately 12.7 percent White, 38.5 percent Black, and 46 percent Hispanic students. The district employs about 30 teachers with an average salary of $47,800 before pension contributions; about four-fifths of these educators are women. In addition, no teacher in the district has recorded more than ten absences during a school year. More details can be found on the Illinois Report Card website.

In terms of spending, Fairmont School District 89 allocated $21,521 per student in the year 2020, amounting to a total expenditure of nearly $6.93 million according to state records (source).
