Ted Dabrowski, a candidate for governor of Illinois, addressed the issue of low proficiency among Mokena students despite significant spending and pledged to enhance literacy and numeracy. This statement was made during the Will County Republican Central Committee Freedom Day Dinner.
"I understand the concern Mokena parents have about the quality of education in their schools considering how much they pay in property taxes every year," said Dabrowski, Illinois Gubernatorial Candidate. "Over a third of students in Mokena can't read at grade level and half can't do math. Yet officials spend over $15,500 per student. One of my top priorities as governor will be to restore literacy and numeracy to Illinois schools."
The event took place in Mokena on October 24, 2025, at Tuscany Falls Banquets. It was organized by local GOP groups to rally supporters and highlight candidates. Community listings indicated a 6 p.m. start time and directed attendees to the county party’s website for further details on the program and pricing. As a key event for the Will County GOP, the dinner attracted activists, donors, and statewide hopefuls who discussed priorities such as taxes, education, and public safety in preparation for the 2026 elections.
Dabrowski is running as a Republican candidate for governor of Illinois. He has previously served as vice president of policy at the Illinois Policy Institute and worked in international finance with Citibank. Since launching his gubernatorial campaign in September 2025, Dabrowski has focused on affordability, education, and public safety while traveling across the state to present his proposals aimed at improving educational outcomes and addressing taxpayer concerns.
