Fairmont Community Partnership Group hosts free waste disposal event for local residents

Fairmont Community Partnership Group, Inc. will hold Community Dumpster Days from October 25 to October 27 at 525 Barry Ave, Lockport, Illinois. The event aims to help local residents dispose of certain types of waste at no cost.

Residents are allowed to bring items such as mattresses, rugs, and furniture for disposal. However, e-waste (including TVs, computers, and printers), large appliances (such as washers and dryers), hazardous materials (like oils and chemicals), old car parts (including engines and tires), and yard waste mixed with other refuse will not be accepted.

Seniors who require assistance can make an appointment by calling 815-723-3577 between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM on weekdays. Assistance for seniors will be provided specifically on Saturday, October 25.

The Fairmont School District 89 serves Will County and includes Fairmont School within its boundaries. The district's student population is diverse: about 12.7 percent are White, 38.5 percent Black, 46 percent Hispanic, and 0.3 percent Asian according to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) https://www.illinoisreportcard.com/.

"Participation is FREE for residents!" the organizers said in their announcement.
