Joliet, IL – On June 10, 2025, the Joliet Fire Department responded to a report of an apartment fire at 115 Essington Road. The call came in at 8:17 a.m., and units arrived within five minutes to find heavy fire emanating from an upper unit of a three-story garden apartment. Three residents were on a balcony and were safely removed.
Firefighters conducted an interior attack and discovered significant fire activity in the attic. A primary search of the structure was negative for additional occupants. Afterward, crews transitioned to defensive operations to address the attic fire with master streams before returning inside to extinguish remaining flames and conduct a secondary search, which also yielded no additional occupants.
Seven residents sustained minor injuries and received treatment on-site. All residents have been accounted for. The scene was declared under control by 9:23 a.m., with no reported injuries among firefighters.
A total of 40 firefighters from Joliet Fire Stations 1, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10 were involved in the response. The Joliet Office of Emergency and Disaster Management is assisting with relocating displaced residents.
The City of Joliet is situated in Will and Kendall counties in Illinois, approximately 30 miles southwest of Chicago. As per the 2020 census, it ranks as the third-largest city in Illinois with a population of 150,362.
