The Village of Park Forest will soon distribute the summer edition of its Discover Magazine, expected to reach residents by mid-July. While awaiting the print version, residents can access a digital preview on the Village's website.

Joshua Vinson, Communications Coordinator, revealed that this 40-page issue includes updates from various departments. The cover story focuses on ongoing and upcoming construction projects in the village. "All across town, you'll see those orange construction signs," Vinson remarked. "They signify the Village's investment of grants and tax dollars to improve its infrastructure."

Among the feature stories is one about Park Forest Fire Department Lieutenant Elizabeth "Bess" Vlahakis, highlighting her achievements and reputation as a "trailblazer" within the department.

The magazine also contains a detailed article about the closure of the Park Forest Aqua Center for the 2025 season and preparations for reopening next year.

Amid discussions on local taxes, Assistant Finance Director Sharon Floyd contributes an article outlining the Village's budget, emphasizing a surplus and increasing reserves.

"This magazine also connects with the school districts that serve our community—District 227 and District 163—highlighting the accomplishments of the boys' basketball teams," said Vinson. He noted that Rich Township's boys' team ranked fourth in state competitions while Park Forest's Michelle Obama School of Technology and Arts secured a state title.

Following coordination with B Allen Graphics, Discover Magazine is anticipated to be delivered between July 11 and July 18.
