Park Forest residents are approaching the April 30 deadline to purchase vehicle stickers to avoid a $25 late fee. The stickers, available since March 1, can be purchased in person at Park Forest Village Hall starting March 3. All vehicles registered in the Village of Park Forest must display the stickers by the close of business, 5 p.m., on April 30.
Utility Billing Supervisor Marcy Gott announced that starting May 1, a late fee of $25 will apply to all vehicle sticker purchases. For any purchases on or after August 1, a higher late fee of $50 will be imposed. Gott noted that approximately 5,000 vehicle stickers have been sold this year, reflecting favorable compliance trends. She expects around 3,000 more stickers to be sold as the deadline nears.
With fewer than five business days left to acquire the stickers without incurring additional fees, Gott urges residents to act promptly. She recommends either acquiring the stickers online or visiting the Park Forest Water Department at Village Hall to avoid the long lines typical in the final week. "You don't want to spend part of your day in long lines to get your sticker," Gott stated. For convenience, she suggests residents buy online, as the stickers will be mailed.
Gott explained how her department works with the Park Forest Police Department to ensure compliance. Later in the year, a list of residents with registered vehicles who have not purchased their stickers will be shared with the police, facilitating the issuance of violations for non-compliance.
Residents can purchase stickers at Village Hall from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays. Online purchases are available before the deadline on April 30.
