Charles Rouque Chavez, aged 74, late of Hammond, IN, passed away on March 13, 2025. A U.S. Army Veteran, Charles had a deep love for animals and devoted himself to their care. He enjoyed dancing, reading, biking, and cooking.

Charles was the beloved father of Gina Lisa Clay and the late Nicole Marie Chavez, and the loving former husband of Cecilia Chavez (nee Rodriguez). He was the caring brother of Margaret Mary North and cherished son of the late Leonard and Phoebe Chavez (nee Kilgore). Charles also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

As per the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services, with cremation rites entrusted to Vandenberg Funeral Home in Mokena, IL. The interment will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to PAWS in Tinley Park, IL.
