FOIA Request Sent to City Of Crest Hill Finance Department Regarding City Sales Tax Records on October 31, 2024

FOIA Request to City Of Crest Hill Finance Department Regarding City Sales Tax Records on October 31, 2024.

In a continued effort to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Will County Gazette have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140.

The request was sent to the City Of Crest Hill Finance Department and it seeks information regarding city sales tax from January 1, 2023, to October 31, 2024. Specifically, we have asked for a list of businesses that paid sales tax to the city during this period. The requested list should include the business name, business type, and the amount of sales tax paid by each business.

In addition to this detailed breakdown, we have also requested information about the total amount of sales tax that the city collected during this same time frame.

As members of the media committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that our role in disseminating information makes us eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await a response from the City Of Crest Hill Finance Department and will keep our readers updated on any developments.
