Will County Gazette

There were 17 offenders living in DeKalb County released on parole during the fourth quarter of 2022, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Will County Gazette.

The data shows 14 men and three women were released in DeKalb County. The median age of the parolees was 30. The youngest parolee was a 24-year-old man sentenced for a crime against a person in 2022, and the oldest was a 62-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving drugs in 2022.

The offender incarcerated the longest was Robert Zajler. He was convicted of a property crime in 2019 when he was 26 years old. He is now 30.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
