The Tinley Park village board recently recognized three organizations in the village.

During a Nov. 15 village board meeting, the board spotlighted three different firms within the village. The first was Tinley Wish, which is a nonprofit organization that has been helping families in the area during the holidays for 27 years now. Sergeant Chris Butler of the organization came to the board meeting. Chris is the president of Tinley Wish and a sergeant in the Tinley police department.

The organization was started by two patrolmen and has been continued ever since, helping families in need during the holidays. They plan to help at least three families this year, and this year could be the first year where they don’t have their traditional public delivery as some of the families have dire medical situations where they cannot be exposed to anyone. They still plan to have some sort of celebration of all the workers’ dedication.

"We only have a couple of rules. The rules are you have to live in Tinley Park and we can’t give you cash. So we’ll help with a lot of things, a lot of bills, gifts, just about anything you can think of. We’ve bought cars, we’ve paid mortgages, so many medical bills I couldn’t even begin to think about," Sergeant Butler said at the meeting.

The board also invited Patricia Zemar, the owner of Tinley Massage Therapy, to the board meeting for recognition. The massage business focuses on relieving stress, promoting athletic recovery, and supporting immune health. Patricia has over 20 years of experience in the business and is thrilled to have her own business now in the village. The board also recognized Family Hyundai, but no representatives were able to attend the meeting.
