State Rep. Jackie Haas (R-Kankakee) promoted her party’s Reimagine Illinois platform as an antidote to the corruption taking place within Illinois state government, asserting it has caused citizens of the Prairie State to suffer.

In a state House Republican  YouTube video discussing Reimagine Illinois, Haas talked about corruption’s effects on Illinoisans.

“I think we know for far too long Illinoisans have been paying a high price for corruption. We’re painfully aware that corruption decreases economic growth and discourages development in our state. Corruption further serves to disadvantage the already underserved in our state and in our communities,” the lawmaker said.

Ending corruption, as Prairie State Wire reported, is among the four focal points of Reimagine Illinois. The other three are: responsible fiscal leadership, growing opportunities for families, and ensuring public safety.

House Republican Leader Jim Durkin (R-Burr Ridge) and his fellow party members introduced the legislative initiative in March.

Durkin told the Prairie State Wire that he and Republican lawmakers have been listening to their constituents, who have grown tired of the Democratic Party’s “hollow statements and lies.”

The Rockford Sun reported that state Rep. Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport) has urged his party to support Reimagine Illinois as a way to implement police reform and decrease the scope of government.

University of Illinois-Chicago researchers determined that Illinois is the second-most corrupt state in the nation, independent think tank Illinois Policy reported.
