Will County Board member Raquel Mitchell is urging voters to take a stand now to make sure their voices are heard.
“May and August is not the time to complain about your property taxes,” Mitchell told the Will County Gazette with the April 6 election day fast approaching. “It's right now when you have the best chance of fixing your taxes. You can stop the pillaging right now. Every taxpayer should be running to their polling places for this election to vote for those folks who are not trying to expand government.”
Mitchell said the races in Wheatland Township, in Bolingbrook for mayor and the Naperville City Council race are all critically important with so much now happening across the state.
“School boards are hot this election,” she added.
“Three school boards are facing turnover because of angry parents who decided to take a stand against the prolonged lockdowns. Naperville school districts 203, 204 and Plainfield School District 202 will be interesting on election night. Wheatland Township has been run efficiently and with transparency.”
Mitchell fumes about issues being added to the mix she’s convinced have no business being part of the ongoing discussion.
"Unfortunately, their Democratic opponents enlisted Chris Kennedy and Congresswoman Lauren Underwood to tell the taxpayers to abandon their low taxes and responsive government for programs nobody asked for and higher taxes,” she said. “The Wheatland Republicans actually gave their taxes back in the form of zero town fund taxes. Nobody is doing that on either side of the aisle and the Democrats definitely would like to diminish that in exchange for the shiny green deal and (anti) suburban policies meant to cede authority to federal central planning.”
