Republican Tim Ozinga has won the state representative nod for District 37.

“Thank you to everyone who supported me and volunteered over the last several months. This has been a team effort and I look forward to representing everyone in the 37th District in Springfield!” Ozinga said in a statement.

Ozinga defeated Michelle Fadeley.

Fadeley released a concession statement:

“All of the votes have been counted, and while I am disappointed we did not reach victory, I am incredibly proud of the campaign we ran. I am also so thankful for all our volunteers, the dozens of organizations and community leaders that endorsed my candidacy, everyone who made a contribution, and my campaign team for rolling up their sleeves and making a difference in this race. Thank you.

“I entered this race because I believe our community needs a strong voice for working families to help ensure access to good jobs, affordable healthcare, and well-funded community services. I have been an advocate for those issues my entire life, and I will continue being an advocate on those issues.

“I am honored to have been given the opportunity to run in this race, and I am honored to have had people like you by my side. Again, a heartfelt thank you to you and everyone that got involved and helped this campaign along the way.”
