City of Joliet Public Safety Committee met Jan. 7.

1. Roll Call

PRESENT: Chairperson Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman, Councilman Don "Duck" Dickinson, Councilman Larry E. Hug.

ABSENT: None.

ALSO PRESENT: Interim City Manager Steve Jones, Interim Fire Chief Greg Blaskey, CIO David Braner, Police Chief Alan Roechner, Deputy Chief Marc Reid, Deputy Chief Michael Batis, and Brandon Knox, Barnacle Parking.

2. Approval of Minutes - December 17, 2019

Motion to approve the Minutes of the Public Safety Committee Meeting from December 17, 2019 was made by Councilman Don "Duck" Dickinson.

Motion seconded by Chairperson Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman. 

Motion carried by the following vote: 

AYES: Chairperson Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman, Councilman Don "Duck" Dickinson, Councilman Larry E. Hug. 

NAYS: None.

3. Citizens to be Heard on Agenda Items:

None

4. Request for Authorization to Purchase Firefighter Turnout Gear

Interim Fire Chief Greg Blaskey discussed the purchase of Firefighter Turnout Gear.

Councilman Larry Hug entered the meeting at 5:38 p.m.

Motion to recommend Request for Authorization to Purchase Firefighter Turnout Gear to Full Council was made by Councilman Don "Duck" Dickinson.

Motion seconded by Councilman Larry E. Hug. 

Motion carried by the following vote: 

AYES: Chairperson Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman, Councilman Don "Duck" Dickinson, Councilman Larry E. Hug. 

NAYS: None.

5. Immobilization Discussion

A discussion was held regarding the Barnacle Immobilization Pilot Program.

Motion to recommend the Barnacle Immobilization Pilot Program to Full Council was made by Councilman Don "Duck" Dickinson.

Motion seconded by Councilman Larry E. Hug. Motion carried by the following vote: 

AYES: Chairperson Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman, Councilman Don "Duck" Dickinson, Councilman Larry E. Hug.
