An eighth-grade student at Aux Sable Middle School in Plainfield is creating face shields using his personal 3D printer for the nurses at a local hospital.

The Daily Chronicle reports Kyle Grzybowski initially began making face shields for his neighbor who is a nurse at Naperville's Edward Hospital because the hospital was running low on them. He is now making between five and seven per day.

"I'm going to keep printing them and if [his neighbor] doesn't need them, I'll give them to other hospitals," Grzybowski said.

Grzybowski also wants to use his 3D printer to make ear guards, which keep the straps on face masks from rubbing against the wearer's ears.

Grzybowski received the 3D printer as a Christmas gift from his parents after participating in STEAM classes for the last two years.
