Braidwood City Council met Feb. 11.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Call to Order: The Regular Meeting of the Braidwood City Council on January 14th, 2020 was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Jones in the Council Chambers of the Braidwood City Hall.

Pledge of Allegiance: Mayor Jones requested all rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll Call: Upon Roll Call by the Clerk, the following members of the corporate authorities answered “Here” or “Present”;

Elected Officials;

Present: Commissioner Saltzman, Commissioner Money, Commissioner Smith, Commissioner Hart and Mayor Jones

Absent:

Appointed Officials;

Present: City Attorney Wellner, City Administrator Altiery, Chief Lyons, City Clerk Fisher City and Engineer Weber

Absent:

Quorum: There being sufficient members of the corporate authorities in attendance to constitute a quorum, the meeting was declared in order.

Public Comment:

Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Saltzman made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Hart, to approve meeting minutes from the January 28th, 2020 Regular Council Meeting. Motion carried with 5 ayes; 0 nays. (Saltzman, Hart, Smith, Money and Jones)

Mayor’s Report: Mayor Jones made a Motion to Propose an Amendment to Chapter 23- Zoning of the Braidwood Code of Ordinances to review and consider amendments to regulate adult use cannabis facilities within the City of Braidwood and to send the proposition to Plan Commission for consideration. Motion carried with 4 ayes; 0 nays; 1 sustained. (ayes; Jones, Saltzman, Money and Hart: one sustained; Smith)

Administrator Report: Administrator Altiery advised that the City-wide Waste Management Clean Up Day is scheduled for the week of April 13th, 2020. He also explained that there is an obvious misconception by residents in reference the amount of time it takes a bank draft, for utility bills, to be received by the City Hall and how it is this timely issue that causes several late fees to be added onto billing. Administrator Altiery finished with the FOIA report which consisted of 1 FOIA, submitted by Sue Grygiel, requesting water bill histories for all Commissioners and the Mayor

Chief of Police:

City Attorney Report: Attorney Wellner presented information to the Council regarding an upcoming Illinois Municipal League training he felt would be beneficial to the City Officials

Accounts & Finance Report: Commissioner Saltzman made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Hart to approve the Accounts Payable Report in the amount of 221,295.19 as identified in the Accounts Payable General Ledger dated 02/04/2020. Motion carried with 5 ayes; 0 nays. (Saltzman, Money, Hart, Smith, and Jones) Commissioner Saltzman made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Hart, to approve the Payroll Report, in the amount of $128,544.56, as identified in the Payroll General Ledger dated 02/04/2020. Motion carried with 5 ayes; 0 nays. (Saltzman, Hart, Smith, Money, and Jones) Commissioner Saltzman advised that Bill Hanley of WIPFLi would be presenting the annual audit at the next Council meeting.

Streets & Public Improvement Report: Commissioner Smith reports that snow is coming and he has 2 trucks down. He stated they are working on fixing them themselves as it is too expensive to send them out for repair.

Public Property Report: Commissioner Money outlined the work done by the city crews within the last 2 weeks.

Public Health & Safety Report: Commissioner Hart reported that in the last 2 weeks, the Police Department handled 177 calls for service and made 2 arrests.

Planning & Zoning Report: The next meeting for the Planning and Zoning Board will be Monday March 2nd, 2020 at 7:00pm.

Adjournment: Commissioner Saltzman made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Hart, to adjourn the January 14, 2020, regular meeting of the Braidwood City Council. Motion carried with 5 ayes; 0 nays. (Saltzman, Hart, Smith, Money and Jones) The next regular meeting of the Council will be held February 25, 2020.
