Braidwood City Council met Jan. 14.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

Call to Order: The Regular Meeting of the Braidwood City Council on January 14th, 2020 was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Mayor Jones in the Council Chambers of the Braidwood City Hall.

Pledge of Allegiance: Mayor Jones requested all rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Roll Call: Upon Roll Call by the Clerk, the following members of the corporate authorities answered

“Here” or “Present”;

Elected Officials;

Present: Commissioner Saltzman, Commissioner Money, Commissioner Smith, Commissioner Hart and Mayor Jones

Absent:

Appointed Officials;

Present: City Attorney Wellner, City Administrator Altiery, Chief Lyons, and City Clerk Fisher

Absent: City Engineer Weber

Quorum: There being sufficient members of the corporate authorities in attendance to constitute a quorum, the meeting was declared in order.

Public Comment:

Approval of Minutes: Commissioner Saltzman made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Hart, to approve meeting minutes from the December 23rd, 2019 Regular Council Meeting. Motion carried with 5 ayes; 0 nays. (Saltzman, Hart, Smith, Money and Jones)

Mayor’s Report: Mike Pemble has submitted his resignation from the position of E.S.D.A Coordinator. Mayor Jones appointed Josh Bolatto to the position of E.S.D.A Coordinator and Mike Compton to E.S.D.A Assistant Coordinator.

Administrator Report: Administrator Tony Altiery requested approval of an Ordinance Amending the Term for Business Licenses withing the City of Braidwood. Commissioner Saltzman made the motion, seconded by Commissioner Hart to approve an Ordinance Amending the Term for Business Licenses Within the City of Braidwood. Motion carries with 5 ayes; 0 nays. (Saltzman, Hart, Smith, Money and Jones)

City Clerk Report: Engineer Report:

Chief of Police: Chief Lyons acknowledged the retirement of Mike Pemble and thanked him for his service.

City Attorney Report:

Accounts & Finance Report: Commissioner Saltzman made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Hart to approve the Accounts Payable Report in the amount of $332,358.15 as identified in the Accounts Payable General Ledger dated 01/14/2020. Motion carried with 5 ayes; 0 nays. (Saltzman, Hart, Smith, Money, and Jones) Commissioner Saltzman made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Hart, to approve the Payroll Report, in the amount of $128,781.42, as identified in the Payroll General Ledger dated 01/08/2020. Motion carried with 5 ayes; 0 nays. (Saltzman, Smith, Hart, Money, and Jones)

Streets & Public Improvement Report: Commissioner Smith mad a motion, seconded by Commissioner Saltzman, to Approve an Ordinance to Appoint Gary Phebus to Public Works Supervisor. Motion fails with 2 ayes; 3 nays. (Ayes- Smith and Saltzman; nays- Money Hart and Junes)

Public Property Report: Commissioner Money outlined the work done by the city crews within the last 2 weeks.

Public Health & Safety Report: Commissioner Hart made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Saltzman, to Approve an Ordinance Amending Certain Sections of the Municipal Code of the City of Braidwood Pertaining to Cannabis Use, Sales, and Possession. With necessary corrections. Motion carries with 5 ayes; 0 nays. (Hart, Saltzman, Money, Saltzman and Jones) Commissioner Hart made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Smith to Approve an Ordinance Authorizing Disposal of Personal Property Owned by the City of Braidwood - One Police Vehicle. Motion carried with 5 ayes; 0 nays. (Hart, Smith, Money Saltzman, and Jones) Josh Bolatto presented an E.S.D.A Activity Update Report.

Planning & Zoning Report:

Executive Session: Commissioner Hart made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Smith to go into Executive Session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline performance or dismissal of specific employees (5ILCS 120/2(c)(1)). Motion carries with 5 ayes;0 nays. (Hart, Smith, Money, Saltzman, and Jones.

Adjournment: Commissioner Saltzman made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Smith, to adjourn the January 14, 2020, regular meeting of the Braidwood City Council. Motion carried with 5 ayes; 0 nays. (Saltzman, Smith, Hart, Money and Jones) The next regular meeting of the Council will be held January 28, 2020.
