The Will County Republican Central Committee is encouraging supporters of President Donald J. Trump to turn out en masse Saturday morning in Frankfort for an anti-impeachment rally that's being touted as the GOP event of the year.
After Democrats moved late Wednesday to formally impeach the president on articles alleging abuse of power and obstructing Congress, Trump supporters have wasted little time raising their voices in opposition. Joining the Will County GOP in sponsoring the 10 a.m. rally at the corner of U.S. 30 and U.S. 45 are the United Southland Republican Women, the New Lennox Republicans and the Will County Republican Women.
Added support from pro-democracy activists has trickled in from as far away as Hong Kong.

“This is the Republican event to attend in 2019,” organizers said. Demonstrators are being instructed to meet on the southwest corner and be ready to “exercise your Constitutional First Amendment in support of President Trump and against the unjust impeachment.”
Organizers pointed out in an earlier flyer that under Trump’s watch the stock market is now at record-high levels, the unemployment rate is as low as it’s been in half a century, and the U.S. has experienced the highest real median household income increases in decades.
“The founders said their biggest fear was that impeachment would be used for partisan politics and Democrats have done just that,” congressional candidate and former Kendall County GOP Chairman James Marter, running against U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-Naperville) in the 14th District, told the DuPage Policy Journal. “We have to put this country back on a path where it’s not just partisan games.”
