Channahon Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Nov. 27.
The public hearing regarding the rezoning application for 23167 S. Thomas Dillon Dr. will be continued to January 13, 2020. Full text of the information letter is below:
On November 12, 2019 The Village of Channahon Planning & Zoning Commission opened a public hearing to consider the application for a zoning amendment to change the designation of 23167 S. Thomas Dillon Dr. from C-2 Community Shopping District to C-3 General Business District. The applicant’s desired use of the property is to operate a motor vehicle dealership for trucks and trailers. Pursuant to Illinois State Statutes and Village of Channahon Ordinances, notices were sent to nearby properties as well as advertised on signs and in printed in the Herald News.
At the November 12, 2019 meeting, the public hearing was continued without discussion until the next scheduled Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting on December 9, 2019. Per the applicant, additional information was begin collected prior to the Planning & Zoning Commission considering the matter and all details were not yet available. As commissioners did not have any information presented to them, no discussion took place.
The applicant has informed the Village that a traffic study is still being completed and a public information meeting is being scheduled. This public information meeting is not a requirement of the Village of Channahon, and is an undertaking of the applicant. The applicant will be making arrangements directly to inform the public of their meeting. To allow time for these to occur, The Village of Channahon has again received a request for continuance of the Public Hearing. As such, on December 9, 2019 the Planning & Zoning Commission will again continue the hearing to January 13, 2020 and will not be discussing the item.
