Romeoville FD responds to 67 fires in 2017

Romeoville Fire Department responded to 630 calls in 2017 - 2.2 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Romeoville included 67 fires - 11 structure fires, 12 vehicle fires and 44 other fires.

In all, the department saw $302,500 in fire loss - or about $4,515 per fire.

The department also received 563 false calls, including nine malicious calls and 554 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents and two were injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Romeoville Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 20 active employees and eight retired or inactive employees, was $24,217 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $475 for every fire in 2016.
