Retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Gary L. Good recently announced his candidacy for Will County, Illinois auditor.
Good, a Will County native who holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, said his candidacy was born out of a desire to see "Republican democracy in action."
"Many people sit and complain about their government, but these men and women, on both sides of the aisle, raise their hands to serve the people of Will County," Good said on his official Facebook page. "I pray they bring honor to the word politician, and I firmly vow to do so if I am privileged to serve the people of Will County as their next auditor."
Good said in his opinion, the role of the county auditor is to be a strong community leader.
"Leaders look beyond numbers and computer screens," he said. "They stand the line to challenge the status quo, seek what is right, and serve those around them.
"For my entire life, that is what I have done, regardless of title," he added. "I seek your vote to serve as your auditor because the citizens of Will County deserve a good leader … a servant leader … dedicated to them, their futures, and the futures of their children and grandchildren."
The general election is set for Tuesday, Nov. 8.
