Douglas, Michigan/Naples, Florida - Mary Sue (Doeseckle) Plunkett, aged 75, passed away on October 6, 2025, surrounded by love and memories of a rich life filled with creativity and adventure.

Mary's life was centered around her family, her devoted husband Michael Edward Plunkett, and their three children, Jennifer Knuepfer, Malinda (George) Vasilakopoulos, and Michael (Michelle) Plunkett. She held a special place in her heart for her eight grandchildren: Kyle, Josh, Starla, Ari, Miki, Cameron, Lucas, and Layne. After raising her family in Woodridge, Illinois, Mary found joy in the serenity of the Douglas lakeshore.

Born on November 2, 1949, to Robert and Etheldra Doeseckle, Mary was a graduate of Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School and Quincy University, where she met her future husband. She pursued her passion for art and education, earning Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees. Mary shared her artistic talents through her Interior Impressions firm, designing commercial spaces and teaching art to young students.

Mary's creativity extended to various art forms like drawing, printmaking, and lamp glass bead jewelry. She found peace in caring for her gardens, capturing their beauty through sketches, and enjoying sailing and beach sunsets with her family. Mary dedicated her talents to the community through her involvement with the Saugatuck Douglas Art and Garden clubs.

She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, and siblings: Margaret Corrado, Robert Doeseckle, Nancy Miller, Jane Weigel, and John Doeseckle. Preceding her in death were her parents and brother, Michael Joseph Doeseckle.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Richard J. Modell Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Homer Glen, IL, followed by a Mass at Our Lady of the Woods Parish in Orland Park, IL. The visitation is on October 12, 2025.
