The Village of Park Forest is set to celebrate Pride Month with an LGBTQI+ Brunch, Drag and Fashion Show on June 7. The event will be held at Dining on the Green, located at 349 Main St., starting at 10 a.m. It is free to attend, but attendees are encouraged to register in advance.

The celebration aims to honor the contributions and culture of the LGBTQI+ community while promoting inclusivity and awareness. Pride Month, observed annually in June, marks the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall uprising in New York City. It serves as a time to recognize the impact of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and intersex individuals on history and remember those lost to anti-LGBTQI+ violence and the AIDS crisis.

Evelyn Randle, Community Relations Manager for Park Forest, stated that similar events have been hosted by the village in the past to highlight every part of the community. "We want everyone in Park Forest to know they matter," Randle said. "Our LGBTQI+ Brunch, Drag and Fashion Show is another example of that. We’re asking the community to come out, support the event and be educated about others who live in our community."

Brunch will feature a variety of options including pancakes, eggs, bacon, chicken and waffles along with beverages. Performers Tahlia, Aris, Taco and Candi will provide entertainment known for their talents in drag and fashion.

This public event welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds. Registration can be completed through the Village's official website.
