The Park Forest Main Street Market is marking its 52nd season, and organizers are urging community members to support the event. Market Manager Donnica Gordon, in her second year, is focused on expanding the market's reach. She confirmed that several vendors from last year, such as Yard-N-Farm and Tulip Tree Gardens, will return with their organic produce.

Gordon emphasized the market's role as a key source of fresh, affordable food in Park Forest. "The Main Street Market is vital to Park Forest as a central hub for access to affordable, fresh, locally grown foods that are largely free of harmful chemicals and additives," she stated. Vendors also provide information on healthy eating to help enhance patrons' well-being.

The market supports local businesses and improves access to healthy food while fostering community connections. It offers farmers a direct outlet for their products, aiding in business sustainability and farmland preservation. "We feature locally and regionally grown produce, along with artisanal, small-batch, home-cooked foods that are both delicious and nutritious," Gordon added.

In addition to produce, the market will offer fresh flowers and plants. Special events include the official season opener on June 7 with live music and entertainment. The Recreation, Parks & Community Health Department will host the "Thrive! Safe Summer Kick-Off" at the market with health screenings and family activities.

Currently hosting 10 vendors, the market continues to process applications for more participants. Gordon expressed interest in welcoming new vendors, especially food trucks. Interested parties can contact her directly or apply online.

Located at 152 Main St., the Main Street Market operates Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., until October 25.
