The City of Joliet Public Utilities Department is set to commence a construction project for a new water main on Black Road. This initiative is part of the Glenwood Manor Water Main Replacement Project and is scheduled to start on May 1, 2025. The project involves replacing the water main on Black Road between Apollo Drive and Springfield Avenue. During the construction, traffic on Black Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction from 129th Infantry Drive to Springfield Avenue.

The project is expected to be completed, including final pavement restoration, by July 1, 2025. Drivers are advised to consider alternative routes during this period. The city is asking for patience from motorists and urging them to drive slowly and cautiously through the construction zone. For more information about the project, the public can visit www.joliet.gov/construction-zone or contact the Public Utilities Department at (815) 724-4220.
