A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village of Frankfort regarding communications between any employee of Robinson Engineering, Ltd. and various members of the city government on February 17, 2025.

The request specifically asked for all written, digital, and phone communications from January 2021 to present between any employee of Robinson Engineering, Ltd. and any employee or staff member of the City of Frankfort government, the Mayor of Frankfort, or any member of the Frankfort Board of Trustees.

As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Will County Gazette believe access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we consider ourselves eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

It should be noted that we are members of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Missouri Corporation which assists news media companies, publications, and public advocacy groups investigate state and federal governmental agencies. We leverage Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws to pull back the curtain on government actions and help inform the American electorate.

We await a response from the Village of Frankfort regarding this request.
