Illinois State Senate District 43 candidate Jen Monson has expressed strong disapproval of the recent legal proceedings involving former President Donald Trump. "What happened to Donald Trump yesterday was an absolute atrocity and attack on the freedoms of all American citizens!" Monson stated. She will face incumbent Democrat Rachel Ventura in the upcoming election.

"The Rule of Law Has Been Compromised," said jennifer Monson for IL Senate, according to Facebook. "What happened to Donald Trump yesterday was an absolute atrocity and attack on the freedoms of all American citizens! That was NOT justice. Our justice system has been infiltrated by an elitist agenda, where rule of law is ignored and new rules are made up to insure their desired outcome."

Former President and current Republican nominee for president, Donald Trump, was found guilty on 34 felony charges of falsifying business records in connection with a payoff to former adult film star Stormy Daniels regarding an affair that occurred in 2006, according to a report from CNBC. He is scheduled to be sentenced on July 11, just days before the Republican National Convention.

Monson’s statement on her Facebook post compared Trump’s guilty verdicts to the Illinois General Assembly passing the fiscal year 2025 state budget. "Similarly to when the budget was passed in Illinois. Our legislators voted to ignore the standing law of 2 votes, changing it to 3 so they could ram their budget through in the middle of the night," she wrote. Monson further commented, "Again, I know that some are happy about Donald Trump’s conviction but they are fools. If the justice system is allowed to convict a should-be sitting President based on false charges, imagine what they can do do [sic] to you!"

The budget Monson referred to was passed on May 29 by the Illinois State House, amounting to $53.1 billion, according to a report by WBEZ. The budget includes an expansion of a child tax credit for children under age 12, providing a credit of 20% of the state’s earned income tax credit this year. It also funds the Smart Start Illinois program and increases early-childhood block grants by $75 million while opening 5,000 more preschool slots. Additionally, $160 million is earmarked for migrant welcome centers and $198 million is allocated to the rainy day fund.

Jen Monson is running as the Republican nominee for Illinois State Senate District 43 after an uncontested primary election. According to her campaign website, she is an educator and school board member who aims "to maintain citizen rights and their ability to exercise their God-given rights to exist and live freely without unconstitutional government overreach."
