Jim Marter, a candidate for the 14th Congressional District and Chairman of the Kendall County Republican Party, recently demonstrated his support for the Jewish community by attending a Menorah lighting ceremony. The event was organized by the Chabad of Naperville, and Marter used this opportunity to interact with the community and express his solidarity with both the local Jewish community and the people of Israel.

“Naperville Mayor Scott Wehrli spoke at the lighting of the Menorah by the Chabad of Naperville! It was wonderful to experience and to meet the people of the community of the Chabad of Naperville Tonight!” Marter said on Facebook. “I support the Jewish Community and the people of Israel.”

Marter has previously criticized U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-Ill.), his opponent in the race for representation in Congress, for her decision to abstain from voting on an anti-semitism resolution. According to Kendall County Times, he described Underwood’s 'PRESENT' vote as "cowardly," suggesting that she failed to condemn antisemitism. The resolution was passed following an attack by Hamas on Oct. 7 and a subsequent rise in anti-Jewish hate crimes; it received 311 votes, including nearly 100 from Democrats. Marter reiterated his commitment to denouncing such acts and urged Underwood to break what he perceives as her silence on anti-semitism.

With over three decades in the information technology and services industry, Marter is a seasoned IT professional. His LinkedIn profile highlights key roles in business process design, quality management, IT strategy, and SAP ERP with a specialization in Quality Management and Supply Chain Logistics. Currently serving as a SAP QM Platinum Consultant at QMS Inc., since April 2012, Marter has proven expertise in areas like business process improvement, management consulting, quality assurance, system configuration, and product quality. In addition to this role, he is also the CEO of Marter Enterprises, LLC, an information technologies company based in the Greater Chicago Area.

The 14th Congressional District, currently represented by Underwood, includes Kendall County, the southern half of DeKalb County, northern LaSalle County, northeast Putnam County, and parts of Will, Kane and Bureau Counties according to the map on the website for U.S. federal legislative information.
