City of Wilmington City Council met Sept. 26.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

MAYOR BEN DIETZ CALLED TO ORDER THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE WILMINGTON CITY COUNCIL AT 6:00 P.M.

ROLL CALL

After the pledge of allegiance, the following answered to Roll Call: Alderpersons Kevin Kirwin, Ryan Jeffries, Ryan Knight Dennis Vice, Leslie Allred, Todd Holmes and Thomas Smith. Absent: Jonathan Mietzner. The number present constitutes a quorum.

Also present: City Administrator Jeannine Smith, Public Works Director James Gretencord, and Deputy Clerk Joie Ziller.

No comments were made.

CONSENT AGENDA

MAYOR’S REPORT

Mayor Dietz announced that the City’s Police Department is a recipient of a Federal Grant for Body Cameras.

ORDER OF BUSINESS

Alderperson Knight made a motion and Alderperson Holmes seconded to Adopt Resolution No. 2023-11, A Resolution Approving and Authorizing Financial Commitment in the Safe Routes to Schools Grant Program

Upon roll call, the vote was:

AYES: 7 Knight, Holmes, Kirwin, Vice, Allred, Jeffries, Smith

NAYS: 0

ABSENT: 1 Mietzner

The motion carried.

REPORTS AND COMMUNICATION FROM CITY OFFICIALS

City Attorney – Bryan Wellner – Not Present

City Administrator – Jeannine Smith – informed the Council that a quote for the relocating the poles and electrical box around the fishing pond on South Island Park will be coming forward for approval at the next regular City Council meeting

Finance Director – Nancy Gross – Not Present

Public Works Director – James Gretencord – No Report

Chief of Police – Adam Zink – Not Present

Alderperson Mietzner arrived for the meeting at 6:06 PM.

ALDERPERSON COMMENTS

Alderperson Kirwin – requested that the Council donate their per diem for tonight’s meeting to Kuzma Care Cottage

Alderperson Vice – requested that a spreadsheet be provided to them with grants awarded, the dollar amount, and the project outline

Alderperson Allred – No Comment

Alderperson Holmes – No Comment

Alderperson Jeffries – No Comment

Alderperson Knight – No Comment

Alderperson Mietzner – No Comment

Alderperson Smith – No Comment
