The City of Joliet Fire and Police Departments, and 9-1-1, in partnership with Thriveworks and Joliet Township, will host the 2023 Active Shooter and Mental Wellness Conference on November 12-15, 2023. The conference will be presented by N & F Training Solutions, where attendees will hear firsthand accounts from those directly impacted by some of the Nation’s most prolific active shooter incidents.
The City recognizes a critical need for unified training for active threat response within the Joliet area through a “Whole Community” approach. As active shooter incidents continue to happen, it is imperative that the City, in collaboration with local agencies, develop strategies to stop active shooter threats, prevent acts of violence, and prepare for, respond to, and recover from such incidents.
Together, local law enforcement agencies, fire, emergency medical services, dispatch, mental health professionals, and school personnel, will learn best practices and hear firsthand accounts from those that have responded to active shooter emergencies.
Guest speakers will share their own personal experiences regarding the mental health impact of responding to and recovering from active shooter incidents, as well as the implications it had on their agencies and communities. The conference will also further develop working relationships, coordination, and training among local agencies, schools, hospitals, and mental health and wellness providers, to better prepare and respond to an active shooter incident.
Speakers include Michael Neal, Jason Fitzwater, Jad Lanigan, Mike Dailey, Daniel Canete, Brian Murphy, Nick Koahou, AJ DeAndrea, and Raul Rivas. The conference is open to law enforcement, fire fighters, emergency medical services personnel, 911 dispatchers, mental health counselors, school administrators and security, military, emergency management, hospital security and administration, as well as corporate security and administration.
