Analysis: Elwood pays $8.49 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Elwood Fire Protection District

Taxpayers contributed 88.6 percent of the $157,493 the Elwood Fire Protection District brought in 2018, or $8.49 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Will County Gazette analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Elwood contributed $139,510 to the fund, which saw a $8,363 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $16,420, or 10.4 percent, in 2018. Another $1,563 came from other unspecified sources.
