Illinois State House District 98 issued the following announcement on April 9.
As many residents spend more time at home during the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic due to the governor’s stay-at-home order, state Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, is encouraging local families to participate in the census during their time at home.
“Participating in the census is a great activity to do while we continue to practice social distancing, since you can safely fill out the form at home by mail, phone or online,” said Manley. “While we are facing so much uncertainty at this time, making sure you and your family are counted is one way to help secure our community’s future.”
To ensure our community’s fair share of funding for local schools, roads, health clinics and other services, Manley is encouraging local families to participate in the census. Starting in March, every household was sent a letter inviting them to participate in the 2020 census via mail, phone or online. If you have not already participated, or for more information visit 2020Census.gov.
“Ensuring you and your family are counted is critical, because it impacts our community for the next decade, making sure we get our fair share of funding for programs our families care about and protecting our representation in congress,” continued Manley. “If you have not already done so, please take some time while you are home to participate in the census!”
