Will County Board Minority Leader and 3rd Congressional District candidate Mike Fricilone (R-Oak Lawn) is at a loss for words for why none of his 2020 opponents have voiced any support for President Trump in his fight against impeachment charges.

In a press release, Fricilone charges that the Democrat-led U.S. House of Representatives has “made a mockery of the process with a series of Kangaroo Hearings designed to achieve the outcome of an impeachment vote without a crime.”

Fricilone says that the even greater injustice is that his 3rd District opponents, U.S. Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-Western Springs) and fellow Republicans Catherine O’Shea (R-Oak Lawn) and Arthur Jones (R-Chicago), do not appear to be following the same proceedings that Fricilone has been monitoring. The incumbent Lipinski went on record Tuesday with his plan to vote in lockstep with national Democratic leaders in supporting the president’s removal.

“Read the transcript,” said Fricilone, adding that the Inspector General’s recent findings about misleading and incomplete statements given to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court in order to obtain information about Trump’s campaign speak to how far his detractors are willing to go to get him out of office. Fricilone also condemns many of the tactics used by the FBI, DOJ and CIA in the name of information-gathering.

“This is a travesty that should make every American extremely angry,” Fricilone said.

A resident of Homer Glen, the 64-year-old Fricilone is now in his third term on the Will County board. He is the first Republican to officially challenge Lipinski and touts tax reform, growing the economy and anti-abortion rights as some of his signature issues.
