Former state university employee Allsopp paid in $54K to pension fund, could collect $895K in retirement

Former state university employee Julie Allsopp, who retired in July 2016, saved $53,829 toward a pension over 18 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Allsopp would collect as much as $894,545, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Will County Gazette.

The projection assumes Allsopp received $18,802 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 3 years of retirement, Allsopp will have already received $58,115 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
