A. Introduction of Four Newly Appointed Deputy Police Chiefs

Police Chief Al Roechner introduced the four newly appointed Deputy Police Chiefs Marc Reid, Mike Batis, John Perona, and Darrell Gavin- Deputy Chief of Investigations. Each Deputy Chief thanked the Mayor and Council for the opportunity to serve the City of Joliet in this capacity.

9. COUNCIL MEMO #691-18: Request for Authorization to Approve Payment for Asset Management / Work Order System Annual Maintenance (Public Utilities) – 2018 / 2019

COUNCIL MEMO #691-18

Motion to approve Council Memos #683-18 through #691-18 was made by Councilman Don "Duck" Dickinson.

Motion seconded by Councilman Larry E. Hug.

Motion carried by the following vote:

AYES: Councilman Don "Duck" Dickinson, Councilman John E. Gerl, Councilman Larry E. Hug, Councilman Terry Morris, Councilman Pat Mudron, Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman, Councilman Michael F. Turk

NAYS: None

ABSTAIN: Mayor Robert O’Dekirk

XIII. CITY MANAGER:

The City Manager discussed the combined experience of the newly appointed Deputy Police Chiefs. He then discussed the truck enforcement program, overweight vehicle permit process, and in-house adjudication. He highlighted the holiday lights map on city's website.

The City Manager briefly discussed public participation at meetings.

XIV. NEW BUSINESS (Not for Final Action or Recommendation):

In response to Councilman Morris' question, Chris Regis - Interim Corporation Counsel gave a brief update on single-family rentals previously discussed at the Land Use and Legislative Committee meeting.

XVI. MAYOR AND COUNCIL COMMENTS:

The Council expressed their best wishes to all throughout the holiday season.

Mayor O'Dekirk highlighted a R.A.C.E. Foundation luncheon and funds raised for the Miracle League of Joliet, visit with the 3rd graders at Isaac Singleton School, ribbon cutting for Illinois Marine Towing, wished everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and thanked staff for their work during 2018.

The City Clerk announced the next Council Meetings will be held January 14 and 15, 2019.

XVII. CLOSED SESSION to discuss the following subjects.

Motion to enter closed session to discuss personnel, collective bargaining, land acquisition or conveyance and pending or threatened litigation after which the meeting will be adjourned was made by Councilman Don "Duck" Dickinson.
