The Village of Peotone has been recognized for the fourth consecutive year by the Government Finance Officers Association (GOFA) with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its fiscal year 2026 budget document. This award highlights Peotone's dedication to maintaining high standards in governmental budgeting.

Village Administrator Nick Palmer stated, "This award is a testament to the work that the elected officials, department heads, and other staff have put into this process. I especially want to thank our Financial Director Annmarie Mampe and financial analyst Diane Nielson for all their work on the Village’s finances."

The GOFA award signifies that Peotone adheres to nationally recognized guidelines aimed at effective budget presentation. These guidelines evaluate how well the budget functions as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communication device. To earn this recognition, budgets must be rated proficient across these categories and meet fourteen mandatory criteria.

Mayor Chris Vieaux expressed pride in the village staff's efforts: "I am proud of the Village of Peotone staff and appreciate the recognition of our budget process." He emphasized continued improvement in future budgeting processes.

Peotone's fiscal year 2026 budget aligns with current village policies while balancing service provision and fiscal responsibility. The village plans to review its organizational structure to enhance service delivery efficiency.
