Rick Laib led Democrat Lawrence "Larry" Walsh, Jr. in votes cast in Channahon Township for the District 86 state House race, according to the latest vote count.
Laib appeared to outpace Walsh by a margin of 1.1 percent on Tuesday in the township.
In comparison, the 2014 winner, Republican Diane Harris, won by a margin of 7.8 percent in that jurisdiction, beating Democrat Lawrence "Larry" Walsh, who received 932 votes to Harris' 1,089.
