Former Chicago Bears star Gary Fencik is set to headline the University of St. Francis's 42nd annual Brown & Gold Night, on Dec. 6 in the Pat Sullivan Center, as guest speaker.

Fencik, the team’s all-time leader in interceptions and a starting safety on the Bears 1985 Super Bowl winning team, grew up in the Chicagoland and attended Barrington High School and Northwestern University for his MBA. In all, he played 12 NFL seasons and was known throughout his career as one of the “Hit Men” along with teammate Doug Plank.

In taking to the podium for the Brown & Gold event, the school’s website reports Fencik joins former Bears teammates Jim McMahon, Dan Hampton and Tom Thayer, as well as former coach Mike Ditka, in performing the honors.

The annual fundraising festivities commence with a cash bar at 5:30 p.m., with dinner set to start at 7 p.m., followed by the program an hour later.
