Chaney Monge School District 88 students suspended 12 times in a single school year

Chaney Monge School District 88 reported 12 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 12 students during the year. That equates to 2.5 percent of the 472 students enrolled.

Of the 12 out-of-school suspensions, all were given to boys, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 11 incidents. There were one incidents of violence without physical injury. For seven incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
