How much has Richland GSD 88A overspent over the past 10 years?

Richland School District 88A accumulated $1.95 million in debt between fiscal years 2008 and 2017, according to a Will County Gazette analysis of public schools data.

Spending and revenue data obtained for this analysis comes from the Illinois Local Education Agency Retrieval Network (ILEARN), which is part of the Illinois State Board of Education and collects data annually on school district financials.

Over the 10-year span, Richland GSD 88A reported 42 percent more revenue. At the same time, total spending went up 9.8 percent. The resulting deficit grew by 85.9 percent from 2008 to 2017.
