X. Presentation Of Awards

1. Volunteer of the Year Award - Phyllis Schulte

President Hart introduced the 2017 Volunteer of the Year Award to Phyllis Schulte. Phyllis is continuing in her 25th year as a Forest Preserve volunteer. Her peers in our Prairie People volunteer program nominated her for Volunteer of the Year in recognizing her efforts and the strides that she has made to grow the volunteer program.

She has been instrumental in recognizing volunteers and continually encourages them to get additional training through the Forest Preserve or other venues. She also encourages them to work alongside her to learn the skills they need to succeed and grow.

The weekend after our Volunteer Recognition banquet where her selection as Volunteer of the Year was announced, she sent a thank you and an invitation to come work with her at the next scheduled workday. Forty-six participants took advantage of the invitation. That was an amazing turn out for such an amazing volunteer.

Our Volunteer Program would not be what it is today without Phyllis Schulte.
