Raven Kelly nailed it.
The hammer thrower for the University of St. Francis’s women’s track and field team wrapped up her college career on a high note when she became the first Saint to win an individual national championship in any outdoor sport recently.
Kelly threw the hammer 61.33 meters (201 feet, 2.75 inches) at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) championships, only .11 meters shy of the NAIA record. Kelly also finished third in the shot put.
Her efforts also earned her the title of NAIA Midwest Region Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association
During her career at USF, Kelly was a six-time All-American and led the Saints to an eighth-place finish at the NAIA championships — the best finish in school history.
