The City of Joliet Department of Information Technology (IT) met April 24.

Here is the agenda as provided by the Department:

1. ROLL CALL

PRESENT: Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman, Councilman Pat Mudron.

ABSENT: Councilwoman Bettye Gavin.

ALSO PRESENT: Dave Braner, Information Technology CIO, Chris Sternal,

Enterprise Application Services Manager, Christa Desiderio, City

Clerk, Brian Dupuis, Deputy Chief, Jennifer Garcia-Plascencia,

Digital Communication Coordinator

2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Motion to approve the minutes of the March 10, 2017 CTIS Committee Meeting was

made by Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman. was made by Councilman Pat Mudron.

Motion seconded by Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman.

Motion carried by the following vote:

AYES: Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman, Councilman Pat Mudron.

NAYS: None.

3. POLICE DEPARTMENT INTERVIEW ROOM RECOMMENDATION - LONG

TERM DIGITAL EVIDENCE STRATEGY DISCUSSION

Dave Braner, Information Technology CIO, gave an explanation of Evidence.com

which he is recommending as a system/solution to the current inadequate system

being used in police department interview rooms. Mr. Braner stated that he

currently does not have a negotiated contract, but he would be discussing it in the

closed session.

4. PHONE SYSTEM / CARRIER OUTAGE DISCUSSION

Mr. Braner discussed the recent phone outage and the City's lack of a redundant

phone system. Mr. Braner then gave an explanation of possible solutions,

including a cloud based system, to address the phone issues.

5. IT SURVEY RESPONSE / READOUT

Mr. Braner discussed the results of the 2017 IT Survey. He specifically talked

about the difference in results of the 2016 IT Survey versus the 2017 IT Survey,

and the areas that need to be addressed.

6. NEW or OLD BUSINESS, not for final action or recommendation

Jennifer Garcia-Plascencia, Digital Communication Coordinator, explained the

new media projects she has implemented utilizing Facebook, Twitter, and Smart

Messenger, since starting her newly created position. Ms. Garcia-Plasencia also

discussed the upcoming City of Joliet website update. Christa Desiderio,

City Clerk, expanded on the City of Joliet website improvements and changes, as

well as other City media promotions.

Councilwoman Jan Quillman and the Committee members had a lengthy

discussion regarding the continued issues with the protocol for incoming calls to

the City, the amount of time it takes for the calls to be returned or when calls are

not returned at all by City employees.

7. CLOSED SESSION to discuss the following subjects:

Motion to enter closed session to discuss personnel and contract negotiations after

which the meeting will adjourn was made by Councilman Pat Mudron.

Motion seconded by Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman.

Motion carried by the following vote:

AYES: Councilwoman Jan Hallums Quillman, Councilman Pat Mudron.

NAYS: None.
