Aurora Animal Care and Control (AACC) is offering a unique adoption program through the fall to help find permanent homes for pets at the center while feeding local residents in need.
Those interested in adopting an animal from the AACC can bring in $10 worth of nonperishable food items and adopt an adult cat for $10, or a kitten or dog for $20, a large reduction from the normal $90 adoption fee.
“This is a win-win situation that addresses local needs,” AACC Manager Rick Smith said. “We have a large number of pets that need to be adopted and very caring residents who want to give back to the community. Through this adoption initiative, holidays can be much more special in homes throughout our community.”
Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry and the Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry will receive all of the collected food.
Adoption hours at Aurora Animal Control and Care, located at 600 S. River Street, are noon to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The adoption special runs through Nov. 19.
