Joliet, IL – A new water main is slated for installation as part of the Plainfield Road Water Main Improvement Project. The work is set to occur at the Six Corners intersection of Plainfield Road/Black Road and Ruby Street/Raynor Avenue.
Construction is scheduled to start on the evening of Monday, April 7th, and finish by Friday morning, April 11th. Throughout this period, one lane of traffic in each direction on Plainfield Road will remain open, necessitating the use of flaggers during working hours. On the contrary, traffic for Black Road/Ruby Street and Raynor Avenue will be rerouted with a detour in place.
The work will be conducted at night according to the following schedule:
- Monday (April 7) 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
- Tuesday (April 8) 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
- Wednesday (April 9) 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
- Thursday (April 10) 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.
During the daytime, lanes on Black Road/Ruby Street and Raynor Avenue will reopen, while lanes on Plainfield Road will continue to be limited to one in each direction.
The trench at the intersection will have temporary asphalt patches for about four weeks while testing of the new water main and water service line transfers are finalized. Drivers are advised to find alternative routes during the project duration.
