Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) records show that 81.1 percent of Plainfield North High School's (PNHS) 2015 graduating class enrolled in college within 12 months of graduation.
The 2015 state average for students in public schools was 70 percent.
For PNHS, its college enrollment rate marks a decline since 2014, when 82.2 percent of its graduates chose post-secondary education.
The data, collected by the National Student Clearinghouse, includes two- and four-year colleges.
Enrollment at PNHS in 2015 was 2,273; 544 (23.93 percent) were seniors.
Also according to ISBE, 61.2 percent of PNHS seniors were "college ready" in 2015, versus an average of 46 percent statewide.
All students who score a 21 on the ACT qualify as "college ready."
Among high schools in Will County, the class of 2015 college readiness rate at Lincoln-Way East High School (71.1 percent), Lincoln-Way North High School (63 percent) and Lincoln-Way Central High School (65.8 percent) were higher than at PNHS. Joliet Central High School (22.9 percent) and Plainfield High School (41.1 percent) were all lower.
PNHS students did better on math (56.1 percent) and English (78.1 percent) and worse on science (50.6 percent) and reading (51.5 percent).
Only 36.4 percent of PNHS students were college ready in all four subjects, according to ISBE.
