Garbage Collection and Closures During the Weeks of December 25, 2023, and January 1, 2024
Garbage and recycling service will be one day late all week during the weeks of December 25, 2023, and January 1, 2024, due to the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. City Hall will be closed on Monday, December 25, and Monday, January 1, in observance of the holidays.

City of Joliet Announces 2023 Santa Send-Off Event
Back again by popular demand, the City of Joliet and Mayor Terry D’Arcy will host the Santa Send-Off on Saturday, December 16, 2023 beginning at 10 a.m. Members of the Joliet police, fire and public works departments will escort Santa through Joliet to say good-bye to all of our residents before heading back to the North Pole to prepare for his journey on Christmas Eve.

Installation Of A New Stop Sign
The City of Joliet will be installing a new stop sign at the intersection of Country Glen and Ryehill. The additional stop sign will be installed on Country Glen and will convert this ‘T’ intersection to an ALL WAY STOP. The stop sign will be installed on Friday, December 8, 2023.

The Old Joliet Prison Is Listed On The National Register Of Historic Places
The City of Joliet is pleased to announce that the Illinois State Penitentiary at Joliet (now known as the Old Joliet Prison Historic Site) was recently listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a National Register Historic District.

Joliet Mayor Shuts Down Four Establishments For Vaping Violations “We want strict enforcement of the law with zero tolerance for violators.”
Joliet Mayor Terry D’Arcy announced today the city has shut down four local establishments for violating laws related to selling vaping materials to underage individuals. This is the third operation since September when complaints about underage selling of vaping materials were received by the City of Joliet.

Garbage Collection and Closures for the Week of November 20, 2023
Garbage, recycling, and yard waste pick up will be one day late on Thursday and Friday during the week of November 20, 2023, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Residents with Monday through Wednesday pick up are not affected by this change. Regular garbage collection will resume the week of November 27.
